Clinical asset diligence & licensing assessment

A clinically grounded assessment of an oncology asset for licensing, partnering, acquisition and investment decisions.

Best for
Business-development teams, investors and boards
Typical format
Staged screen, then deeper diligence

What this involves

  • Evidence qualityDesign, evaluable population, follow-up maturity, missing data, and how results were selected and reported.
  • Efficacy and safety in contextResponse, durability and tolerability against the standard of care and competing agents, with attention to patient selection and the limits of cross-trial comparison.
  • DifferentiationWhere the asset could change practice, and which evidence would show it.
  • Development pathWhat remains to be done on dose, indication and pivotal design, and the risks of getting there.
  • Questions for the data roomThe specific information that would raise or lower confidence.

Why it matters in oncology

A response rate or a mechanism is seldom the whole case. A single-arm result in a selected population, immature durability, a safety signal hidden behind dose reductions, or a development path that no longer matches the standard of care can each change the value of an asset.

Licensing and investment teams usually have strong commercial and financial analysis. The clinical interpretation is where outside oncology judgment adds the most.

When to involve us

  • Prioritizing an in-licensing opportunityor working through a data room.
  • Before an investment committeeor board decision.
  • Reassessing a deprioritized asset,or one whose original development plan has been overtaken.
  • Evaluating an asset developed in another region, where the design may reflect a different standard of care or regulatory context.

How we approach it

  1. Screen A quick read of the public evidence to decide whether deeper work is worthwhile.
  2. Define the decision The transaction or portfolio question and the level of risk you can accept.
  3. Examine The evidence, the development plan and the points where the case is thin.
  4. Brief A concise memorandum and a session with decision-makers, with the key follow-up questions listed.

What you receive

  • An evidence-based clinical asset memorandum
  • A prioritized diligence question list and a map of missing evidence
  • Development scenarios with their assumptions and decision triggers
  • A briefing for the relevant decision forum

Working together

  • StructureA staged screen followed by deeper diligence where warranted. Materials, conflicts, specialist needs and decision timing determine the scope.
  • What we need from youPublic evidence or an authorized data room, the transaction or portfolio question, the target disease setting and any development plans.
  • Roles and limitsClinical diligence is distinct from financial valuation, legal diligence, an investment recommendation or a prediction of approval. Asset and counterparty eligibility are reviewed before confidential materials are accepted.

Questions

Can an assessment begin with public information?

Yes. A public-evidence screen can identify the main clinical questions and the information a confidential process should then resolve.

Do you assess discontinued or regionally developed assets?

Yes, where the evidence can be reviewed. The assessment addresses how the original design and standard of care affect what the data can support elsewhere.
